A bomb scare at a John F. Kennedy International Airport terminal in New York forced an evacuation Sunday night, but it was later found out to be a false alarm.
John Kelly, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said they got a phone call at around 5:40 p.m. from an anonymous female who claimed that there was a bomb in Terminal One.
He said, “Using the utmost due diligence, we evacuated the terminal. About 300 people were inside at the time.”
The terminal was closed for a couple of hours so that the authorities could do a search. After they cleared the area, the terminal was reopened at around 8 p.m.
Earlier that day, they received a report about an unattended bag in the same terminal. The police examined the bag and cleared that it was not a bomb.
