John Travolta will play legendary Gambino crime family leader “Dapper Don” John Gotti in an upcoming film about Gotti’s life, reports The Associated Press.
According to an unrevealed source, the film from independent production company Fiore Films will be produced by Marc Fiore and Marty Ingels, and directed by Nick Cassavetes. The 57-year-old Travolta will star as the famous mobster, who died in prison in 2002.
The film, said to be on a budget of about $15 million, will be shot in New York later this year.
Gotti’s son, 47-year-old John “Junior” Gotti, sold rights for the film to Fiore last year for an undisclosed amount.
