HLN’s Showbiz Tonight has named Jon Gosselin to be the most headline-grabbing celebrity for the year, referring to his string of tabloid story-inducing actions all throughout 2009.

Showbiz Tonight senior executive David Levine comments that Gosselin generated notorious media attention for himself almost as if deliberately, referring to Gosselin’s string of stories which included his divorce with wife Kate and his relationship with the 22-year-old daughter of his wife’s plastic surgeon.

“Jon Gosselin was the tabloid train-wreck gift who just kept on giving!” exclaimed Levine in a report by CNN. “It was almost like he was begging for attention.”

Showbiz Tonight also stated that what really got Gosselin the honor is not the story-inducing, but his willingness to blab and tell everything about these stories, feeding tabloid reporters with detailed snippets of his life and relationships.

Gosselin was picked from a selection of other noteworthy candidates which included Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Sarah Palin and Carrie Prejean.
