Kanye West caused hullaballoo once again when he jumped onstage and interrupted Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) at Radio City Music Hall in New York Sunday.
Kanye apparently contested Swift winning the award for Best Female Video for “You Belong To Me” over fellow singer Beyoncé Knowles‘ “Single Ladies”.
“I always wondered what it would be like to maybe win one of these someday, but never actually thought it would happen,” Taylor started her speech when Kanye climbed on stage, grabbed a microphone, and delivered his own speech.
“Taylor, I’m really happy for you and I’m gonna let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,” Kanye said, as the audience started to boo.
Taylor didn’t finish her speech.
Beyoncé eventually won the Video of the Year Award for “Single Ladies”, for which she said in her speech, “I’d like for Taylor to come out and have her moment, what about you?”
Beyoncé then gave Taylor a quick hug, to which Taylor proceeded again with finishing her speech.
