The New York Jets sent safety Kerry Rhodes to the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday in exchange for two draft picks, this year’s fourth-round pick and a 2011 seventh-round pick.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt of the Cardinals said, “He fits a lot of the things that we do defensively, and the prospect of having him alongside a perennial All-Pro like Adrian Wilson is very exciting.”
27-year-old Rhodes is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 209 pounds. He was a fourth-round pick in 2005 for the Jets. In 2006 and 2007, he made a total of seven sacks, five forced fumbles and nine interceptions, making it the best seasons of his career. This earned him a $33.5 million, five-year contract extension in 2008.
Unfortunately, his performance went down in 2009, getting only one sack, three interceptions and no forced fumbles.
