Former University of Southern California assistant coach Lane Kiffin is now the new head coach of the USC Trojans, replacing Pete Carroll, who resigned on Monday.
The announcement was made today by Mike Garrett, the USC athletic director.
A former USC offensive coordinator, Kiffin was once a head coach in Tennessee and of the Oakland Raiders.
Joining him in his new team are his former staff members, Monte Kiffin and Ed Orgeron, who were both part of his 2009 Tennessee staff.
Monte Kiffin is Lane’s father and has been coaching in the collegiate level and the NFL for a long time.
Ed Orgeron is a top defensive line coach and college football recruiter. He was a former New Orleans Saints assistant and Mississippi head coach.
Garrett said, “We are really excited to welcome Lane Kiffin back to USC. I was able to watch him closely when he was an assistant with us, and what I saw was a bright, creative young coach who I thought would make an excellent head coach here if the opportunity ever arose. I’m confident he and his staff will keep USC football performing at the high level that we expect.
