Laurence Fishburne is not returning to “CSI.”

The actor’s contract expired after the 11th season of the show ended last May 11, and despite his star power, the ratings of the crime drama series have not been as good as before.

Fishburne joined the program two years ago to replace William Petersen, who played Grissom. He portrayed the role of Dr. Raymond Langston on the series. He once said in an interview, “I’m having a great time. I was cognizant of the fact that Grissom was a much-beloved character. I made it my business to sit down and watch almost every episode of CSI from season 1 until I came on. It was about understanding the world and becoming as immersed in the show as possible. I love it.”

The search for a new actor to replace the void left by Fishburne is ongoing.
