Brazil gave us Giselle Bündchen, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio. Famous for its rainforests as for their beautiful women we are now experiencing Lea T.
Lea T is in Givenchy’s autumn/winter ad campaign, has appeared in Italian Vanity Fair and had posed naked for French Vogue. Lea T was born Leandro Cerezo 28 years ago.
One of the children of Brazilian soccer hero, Toninho Cerezo, the family was torn with Lea T’s decision to undergo hormonal treatments before her sex change operation.
Lea T remembers her father who would comment “something was wrong with me” ever since. She chose to come out and risk staring, judging eyes and the wrath of her family because a “choice between being happy or trying to be happy” had to be made.
Riccardo Tisci, the creative director of Givenchy, was the first to encourage Lea T. They met after college.
As for Lea T posing naked on French Vogue, “I agreed to pose in the name of all my transsexual friends.”
La Roche, a transsexual who works in a Brazilian government agency commented, “All positive press shows we are capable of things other than prostitution or being hairdressers.”
