Lionsgate announced today that Liam Hemsworth (“The Last Song”) and Josh Hutcherson (“The Kids Are All Right”) have signed on to be part of “The Hunger Games” cast.

Hutcherson will play the role of Peeta Mellark, while Hemsworth will play Gale Hawthorne. They will star opposite Jennifer Lawrence (“Winter’s Bone”) in the movie adaptation of the first of three novels in the trilogy written by Suzanne Collins.

The movie will be directed by Gary Ross and is set to be released on March 23, 2012.
