A moderate earthquake that registered at 5.4-magnitude struck Southern California on Wednesday, causing buildings in downtown Los Angeles to rattle and rides at Disneyland to be halted briefly.
The quake occurred at around 4:53 in the afternoon.
A bartender in a resort said glasses were knocked of the shelves because of the tremor. He said, “You heard it before you felt it. It was a big rumbling, then a few seconds of violent shaking.”
The earthquake’s center was located 130 miles east of Los Angeles, or 28 miles south of Palm Springs, the United States Geological Survey reported. Initial reports said the earthquake was a magnitude-5.9, but it was later downgraded to 5.4.
The Sheriff departments of the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and Riverside reported no major injuries and damages.
