Manchester United defender John O’Shea is highly likely to miss the rest of the season because of a leg injury, according to an official statement from Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
O’Shea suffered a leg injury which resulted in a blood clot that disabled his leg. First thought of to be just a minor injury that would last three or four days, O’Shea’s injury has gotten worse than expected and will probably keep him out of the field for the rest of the season.
“He’s got a terrible injury – the blood clot became all knotted,” says Ferguson in a statement. “It’s a long process to clear it up and he’ll probably miss the season now. It’s one of those sorts of injuries that are unusual. It’s like a dead leg except a dead leg is usually only three or four days.”
O’Shea had not been able to play since November, when they played against France in the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup playoffs.
