Marcus Lattimore, one of the country’s top recruited running backs, has announced Tuesday night that he is committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Lattimore made his announcement at the Silver Hill United Methodist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in front of friends and family.
A few days ago, reports said that Lattimore had narrowed down his choices to two: Auburn and South Carolina. He had also been talking with the coaches of both teams months before the announcement.
Lattimore, who was named last year’s “Mr. Football” by the South Carolina Athletics Coaches Association, said he decided to go with USC after having a conversation with a fellow Spartanburg kid, Stephen Davis, who is Auburn’s star running back.
“He just reminded me to go with my gut feeling and go with your heart. He knew when he went to Auburn that that’s where he wanted to go because that’s where his heart was at, that’s where the gut-feeling was at for him. So, I just took that advice and ran with it.”
