R&B star and icon Mary J. Blige is slated to attend the American Idol auditions in Atlanta as a guest judge, filling in for former Idol judge Paula Abdul, according to reports from Access Hollywood and People. Auditions are scheduled this Sunday and Monday.
Blige will be joining the other Idol judges slated for the affair, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.
This arrangement mirrors that of Victoria Beckham‘s when Beckham filled in for Abdul during the Boston and Denver American Idol auditions. Also expected to fill in for Abdul as of late is Katy Perry, for whom no definite schedule has been announced yet.
Paula Abdul has announced that she would be leaving the show after her eight-season run with American Idol. The show’s producers have not announced a permanent replacement for Abdul yet, but said that they plan on deciding by January of next year.
