Maury Chaykin dies on 61st birthday

Maury Chaykin, an actor known for his roles in “A Life Less Ordinary,” “Dances with Wolves,” and “Blindness,” has died on his birthday, Tuesday, in Toronto. He was 61.

The showbiz veteran, who suffered from a kidney disease, was admitted to a hospital in Toronto and was with his family when he passed away.

He is also known for the weird characters that he portrayed on TV, such as the role of Harvey Weingard on the television series “Entourage.” Weingard was a hot-tempered producer who was notorious for bullying and terrorizing Vinnie Chase (played by actor Adrian Grenier) and his group.

In “Dances with Wolves,” Chaykin played the role of the oddball Major Fambrough, opposite Kevin Costner, who played Lt. John Dunbar.

Chaykin appeared on several other films, including “The Mask of Zorro, “War Games” and “Being Julia,” and television series like “Boston Legal” and “CSI.”
