Michael Jordan, under the name of Charlotte Bobcats, donated $250,000 to the middle-school sports in Charlotte to prevent it from disappearing in a drastic budget cut.
The city cut $1.25 million in its budget which happens to be the budget for middle–school sports.
The Bobcats reached the playoffs for the first time in franchise history when Jordan stressed a bond between the team and local community upon ownership.
“We investigated the situation. We looked for ways to help middle schools and this was one of the options presented. We took it because we like to give middle schools the opportunity to play sports and serve as a motivation for education as well,” Jordan said.
Charlotte Bobcats isn’t the only donor to help save CMS middle-school sports but Jordan’s the largest so far.
Meanwhile his son, 19-year-old Marcus, is under controversy for spending $35,000 at a Las Vegas Strip nightclub. Saying he already had a talk with both of his parents on this and citing regret for the way the tweet came across this particular tweet had since been removed.
Michael Jordan has a known history in gambling but “never” once had this vice affected his life.
