Microsoft announced that it will be launching Internet Explorer 9 late Monday. Dean Hachamovitch, Microsoft Vice President, made the announcement during a press conference at the South By Southwest Interactive Technology Festival in Austin, Texas.
The latest version of Internet Explorer will fully utilize Windows 7 as well as graphics processing chips that can power videos, games, graphics, and stunning visuals. According to Hachamovitch, several partners have already configured their sites to IE9 such as Facebook, Twitter, Pandora, and Yahoo. The software will be downloadable in 30 languages and over 40 million copies have already been downloaded prior to its official release.
During the event, Microsoft demonstrated a lean, muscular new IE designed to showcase slick websites and restore its position against Firefox and Google Chrome as the Web browser of choice. Microsoft’s Director of Web Services Ari Bixhorn loaded up an Apple MacBook Pro running on the latest edition of Mozilla Firefox to compare it with the IE9. The laptop running on IE9 smoothly opened cascading images while the competitor slowly opened the graphic images.
Internet Explorer 9 will be packaged with Windows 7 and Microsoft intends to keep its customers happy and committed to using its products. According to Hachamovitch, browsing is the most important activity that people do with their computers. Windows is at the forefront of Microsoft’s range of software. According to the Redmonds, a Washington-based technology colossus, it has over one billion customers using Windows.
Microsoft is hoping that Internet Explorer 9 will become a huge hit. The company has recently achieved huge success with its Windows 7 operating system as well as its Kinect, a motion sensing controller for the Microsoft Xbox 360 video game.
Open-source browser Mozilla Firefox has been chipping at Internet Explorer’s dominance as well as Google Chrome.
