Microsoft announces serious computer security problem for Windows XP and Server 2003

Microsoft discloses a computer security vulnerability problem that is yet to be fixed.

Microsoft says that the vulnerability affects people using Internet Explorer that runs on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 operating software.

The security problem allows hackers to control the victim’s computers. All it takes to get infected, Microsoft reports, is to visit a hacked website.

Hackers have been exploiting the security hole this past week. These criminals infected thousands of websites, which in turn assist in sending spam mail. The spam mail contains a link to the websites

The security team says that the vulnerability lies in Microsoft’s Video ActiveX control. The interaction between this part of the video software and Internet Explorer creates a hole for hackers to exploit into.

Notices have already been put up to disable the Video Active X control. Microsoft is currently working on a patch to fix the problem. The link the report can be found here.
