Microsoft unveiled today a preview of their latest changes to the MSN website which they are claiming to be their “most significant homepage redesign in over a decade”.
The new MSN site, which is currently only viewable over at preview.msn.com, appears to come with innate integration support for Facebook and Twitter, appearing as two of a few network streams that the site seems to be syndicating into its content. Microsoft seems to also be capitalizing on Bing, with a number of site elements directly interfacing with the Microsoft search engine.
Aside from the other features that the new preview site features, another aspect of the new site that is quick to notice is just how cleaner the new MSN site looks. Microsoft comments that it has performed extensive customer research, eventually resulting in a site with approximately 50% fewer links, less categories and a lot less clutter. The site, despite the apparent decrease in content, seems to offer significant functionality.
The new MSN site is slated to be available to U.S. users early next year.
