Due to the emergence of social media, Microsoft launches its new Kin smartphones. The Kin smartphone lets you download photos while its home screen is fed by up-to-the-minute updates from social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter. The Kin smartphone comes in two variants, the Kin One and the Kin Two. Both phones will be distributed by Verizon in the United States and by Vodafone internationally.

The Kin One is roughly square in shape while the Kin Two comes in a more common rectangular frame. The Kin One has four gigabytes of memory while the Kin Two has eight gigabytes. Both units sport a high resolution camera with the Kin One carrying a five-megapixel camera while the Kin Two is equipped with an eight-megapixel camera. This camera gives users the ability to take high-definition pictures and videos.

The Kin phones are designed by the Sharp Corporation and it has a slide-out keyboard. The Kin One and Kin Two also has a 2.1-inch and 3.5-inch screens respectively with both screens being touchscreen-capable. However, both Kin phones will not be powered by the Windows Phone 7 operating system although it is equipped with the Bing search engine and the Zune music website. The phone also has “The Kin Spot” wherein photos, video, text messages and URLs can be easily shared and displayed in a digital timeline.
