The glove which Michael Jackson wore the first time he performed the Moonwalk has been sold for $350,000 or £212,000 at an auction in New York.
The rhinestone-encrusted glove is just one of the 70 items belonging to the late King of Pop which were put on sale, attracting thousands of bidders all over the world.
A fedora hat was sold for $22,000 while a jacket that Jackson wore on his 1989 “Bad” tour was sold for $225,000.
According to auctioneer Darren Julien, the Moonwalk glove was first seen on a 1983 television appearance of MJ and was considered as his “most historical performance.”
“The total amount of the Jackson memorabilia has now surpassed those of Marilyn Monroe or Elvis. It’s a tribute to his life and career – he’s truly an amazing artist,” Mr Julien added.
The white glove, which costs $420,000 including taxes and fees, was bought by Hoffman Ma, a Hongkong businessman. He bought it on behalf of the Ponte 16 Resort Hotel in Macau, where it will now go on display.
