MTV‘s remake of the hugely popular UK television series “Skins” has been canceled after only one season.
When the show debuted in the US, it stirred a lot of controversy because of the delicate issues tackled and the nudity. But after some time, it seemed that the viewing public just stopped caring anymore.
In a statement released by MTV, it said, “Skins is a global television phenomenon that, unfortunately, didn’t connect with a US audience as much as we had hoped. We admire the work that the series’ creator Bryan Elsley did in adapting the show for MTV, and appreciate the core audience that embraced it.”
The US “Skins” was bashed by the Parents Television Council as child pornography, and its advertisers and sponsors dropped out one by one as the season progressed.
