Judy McGrath, chairman and chief executive officer of MTV Networks, is stepping down.
McGrath, 58, started working for MTV in 1981 as a copywriter and was named chairman in 2004. In a statement she released Thursday, she said, “Creatively, financially, all the brands and businesses are in wonderful shape today. I leave with pride, joy and gratitude for the ride of a lifetime. I especially thank my friends and colleagues on the senior team … They have my respect and affection, always.”
The reason for her resignation was not revealed.
According to Viacom, McGrath’s executives – which include MTV Networks Entertainment Group president Doug Herzog, MTV Network Music & Logo Group president Van Toffler, and Nickelodeon and the MTV Network Kids & Family Group president Cyma Zarghami – will now report to Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman.
