Dash Snow died this Monday night at Lafayette House. The New York artist‘s death was reportedly due to heroin overdose.
Dash Snow’s grandmother, Cristophe de Menil, confirmed his death and the cause of death. Dash Snow was in rehabilitation last March. She says that it was only very recently that Dash Snow resumed using drugs. He died at a hotel in Lower Manhattan
Snow first appeared in the 2006 Wall Street Journal article “The 23-Year Old Masters.” He was selected as one of the top ten promising US artists, alongside Rosson Crow, Keegan McHargue, Zane Lewis, and Ryan Trecartin.
He appeared in an article titled “Warhol’s Children” from 2007 New York magazine. His work often involved scenes depicting sex, violence, and drugs. His main medium was video and photography.
Snow’s work is exhibited in several galleries and museums in New York, Europe, and Los Angeles.
