NH farm goes up for sale after 378 years

After 11 generations way back at 1632, a vegetable and fruit farm from the Tuttle family in New Hampshire is being sold.

Lucy and Will Tuttle decided to sell their 134-acre farm in Dover due to the growth of supermarket chains and pick-it-yourself farms took place, including some heavy workload. The brother and sister are the 11th generation of Tuttles.

The farm went on the market on Tuesday and the asking price raise up to $3.35 million.

Lucy Tuttle said that she and her brother and their sister have done their best “to lovingly discourage” their children from becoming generation No. 12 and would be saddling their children with a considerable amount of debt.

Under a deed restriction that came with its 2006 designation as a conservation land, it can’t be developed into strip malls or condominiums.

The Tuttle farm is considered as one of the oldest continuously operated family farms in America.
