Nissan proceeded to recall approximately 540,000 of its vehicles today over concerns of faulty brake pedals, which can also be associated to fuel gauge faults.
The announcement does not refer to any report of accidents or injuries connected to the faulty brake pedals. However, Nissan does say that the fault seems to lie with parts acquired from external suppliers.
Aside from the faulty brake pedals, Nissan also shares that vehicles ‘at higher mileage levels’ may have problems with their fuel gauges, causing them to inaccurately report the amount of fuel still left in the vehicle’s tank. This may cause the vehicle to run out of fuel even though the gauge still indicates a fuel level greater than empty.
Affected models include the Titan, Armada and Infiniti QX56 built from 2005 to 2008, and the Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra produced between January and March 2006 and between October 2007 and January 2008, according to a report by the AFP.
The Nissan recall comes just one day after General Motors announced their own recall, affecting approximately 1.3 million vehicles.
