Greg Oden, NBA’s #1 overall pick in 2007, has apologized for the naked pictures of himself making their rounds in the Internet.
WorldStarHipHop.com, a well-known hip-hop video site, uploaded the nude photos of the Portland Trailerblazers player to its website, saying that the cellphone pictures were “leaked to them by a ‘jumpoff.’”
Oden appeared in a press conference on Tuesday night and admitted that the naked guy on the photos was really him.
“First, I’d like to apologize to everybody … Portland, the fans, the organization. It was very embarrassing,” he told the Portland media. “It was something that happened over a year and a half ago. I’m very sorry, and I’m definitely embarrassed for my family and everybody…”
According to the Trailblazers’ center, he received a call from a friend Tuesday morning informing him about the nude pictures.
He further explained to the reporters, “It was a lady friend who I was having a relationship with, and it was just for her. It was definitely meant to keep private.”
He said he has learned a lot from all the embarrassment and humiliation and thanked his fans, teammates and family for their support.
