United States President Barack Obama has landed in Copenhagen to join other world leaders in the final day of the climate change conference.
The negotiators hope to come up with an agreement to minimize the emission of greenhouse gases, which scientists believe to be the cause of global warming.
However, this has not been easy because the rich and the poor countries could not decide on who should lead in cutting carbon gas emissions and who should pay for all the anti-pollution efforts.
According to media reports, two of the greatest obstacles of obtaining a deal among the nations are China’s unwillingness to let its emission cuts be verified and the United States’ refusal to offer bigger cuts in greenhouse gas emissions.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the climate talk is one of the most complicated and tricky processes imaginable.
China said the United States’ offer of a 17% cut in emissions is not enough, but US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton said the 17% is the first step towards a 50% reduction by 2050.
