‘Oriental Yeti’ caught in China!

A rather unusual creature was successfully caught after local hunters managed to trap it in Sichuan province in China, after locals reported that they have been spotting a creature that looked like a bear nearby.

The creature, dubbed the “Oriental Yeti“, currently has scientists baffled. The Oriental Yeti is hairless, has a bear’s snout and a kangaroo’s tail, among others.

“It looks a bit like a bear but it doesn’t have any fur and it has a tail like a kangaroo,” says Lu Chin, a local hunter. “It also does not sound like a bear — it has a voice like a cat and it is calling all the time — perhaps it is looking for the rest of its kind or maybe it’s the last one.”

Lu Chin also shared a legend saying that locals believe that there is a bear lingering that was once a man – and that the locals believe that the Oriental Yeti is that same bear.

The creature had been sent to laboratories in Beijing, China to begin DNA tests. Hopefully, the tests will reveal clues regarding the Oriental Yeti’s species.

This is horrible. That animal should be taken back to where it was found, and it should be released. Maybe with a radio collar.

That’s a fossa. It looks like a fossa with mange. How did it get away from Madagascar, I wonder?

That’s an outstanding observation Juanita! I had to check what the Fossa is over on Wikipedia, and I think you’re onto something here.

    Thanks for pointing that out!
