Oscars’ John Hughes tribute: Molly Ringwald, Matthew Broderick and the Brat Pack honor the late great filmmaker

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards prepared a brief tribute to honor the late John Hughes, who died of cardiac arrest last year.

Molly Ringwald and Matthew Broderick made the introduction, and several well-known actors and actresses (including Judd Nelson, Anthony Michal Hall, Jon Cryer and Macaulay Culkin) appeared onstage to share their anecdotes about the very talented director, producer and writer.

The 59-year-old filmmaker is highly-distinguished for his teen oriented films such as “Pretty In Pink,” “Some King of Wonderful,” “The Breakfast Club,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” and “Sixteen Candles.”

He also made mature films including “Planes, Trains and Automobiles.”

Hughes died on August 6, 2009 after collapsing on the streets of New York City. He was rushed to the Roosevelt Hospital to no avail.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, and 4 grandchildren.
