Phone number from Soulja Boy’s song: real or fake?

Soulja Boy‘s fans have been calling the phone number that showed up in one of Soulja Boy’s song Kiss Me Thru the Phone. Coincidentally, the phone number is real but it does not belong to the rapper. The phone number belongs to an Oldham family,  who is not related in anyway to Soulja Boy.

Since the song’s debut, the Smith family receives an average of 60 calls per day from fans assuming they have Soulja Boy’s real phone number.

Gerry Matley and his wife Catriona Howard Smith have gotten used to the calls and even joke about it:

“They have asked if I am his girlfriend but I think I am a bit too old, even for Soulja Boy.”

Gerry Matley adds, “I mean, with my looks and my accent, I fit the perfect profile for a rapper from Oldham.”

The Smith family’s phone number is part of the 12-digit number appearing in the chorus of Kiss Me Thru the Phone. It has been appearing in more than 300, 000 websites.

The couple reports that some fans sing to them while some ask if they are related to Soulja Boy over the phone. Most are disappointed to learn that they do not have Soulja Boy’s real phone number.
