Rich Cho hired as new Trail Blazers general manager

The Portland Trail Blazers have named Rich Cho, an assistant general manager of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the last nine seasons, as their new general manager.

Cho, 44, replaced Kevin Pritchard, who was fired from the team before the NBA draft last month.

Trail Blazers team owner Paul Allen said, “Rich Cho joins us as one of the new generation general managers in the NBA. We were all impressed with the depth and breadth of his skill-set and we know his leadership will be critical to make our great organization even more successful.”

Cho was a former intern with Seattle SuperSonics. He became a part-time consultant for the team in 1997 and held the team’s director of basketball affairs seat for three years. He was then promoted to assistant general manager.

Last season, the Trail Blazers finished with a 50-32 win-loss record, earning it the sixth spot in the Western Conference division. It failed to beat the Phoenix Suns to get to the second round of playoffs.
