The Dramatics singer Ron Banks has died at the Detroit Sinai’s Hospital in Detroit, Michigan early this morning.
Motown Alumni Association President Billy Wilson said, the 58-year-old music artist suffered from a heart attack.
L.J. Reynolds, Banks’ fellow Dramatic, said, “It caught us by surprise. We still have to go to New York tomorrow night. We have to go. The show must go on. If it was me I’d want them to go ahead and I’m sure he’d feel the same way. It’ll be a long, silent ride there. But we’ll take Ron’s mike and put it up onstage, and let it stand there.”
The Dramatics was popular in the 70s for their funky hits including “In The Rain,” “Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get” and “Get Up and Get Down.” It had about 38 singles that made it to the top 10 R&B charts.
Banks is survived by his wife Sandy and six children.
