It’s natural for American Idol judge Simon Cowell to express straightforward dissatisfaction of a contestant’s performance; it’s not for American Idol host Ryan Seacrest to strut up and shove his face in Cowell’s to challenge him.

But that’s exactly what happened when Cowell did not like Michael Lynche’s performance of I Miss You on the latest installment of American Idol: Cowell called Michael Lynche’s performance ‘corny’ and ‘desperate’.

Ryan Seacrest then stepped up to Simon, placed himself squarely in front of Cowell’s desk, and challenged him to explain exactly what it was that was wrong with Lynche’s performance.
