MWC 2010 – People are generally excited to see the gadgets and gear that’ll come out of this week’s Mobile World Congress. First off the list of the more anticipated pieces is Samsung‘s first attempt at a bada-based phone: the new Samsung Wave.

For those who aren’t familiar, Samsung recently announced the development of their own mobile operating system called ‘bada’, which is highly based and founded on their familiar Samsung TouchWIZ interface. bada will be Linux-based, and based on what the Samsung Wave seems to be able to do with it, it looks like it has great potential.

The Samsung Wave has a single-piece aluminum chassis equipped with a 3.3-inch display capable of displaying at 800×480 resolution. In addition to the TouchWIZ (bada?) interface being completely customizable by the user, it also comes packed with a 1GHz processor, effectively rivaling Google’s Nexus One. The Samsung Wave also has support for Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11n WiFi capabilities, making it the first smartphone to have full support for these technologies. It also has multi-tasking capabilities (which the Apple iPhone / iPad currently does not have).

One of its (possible) drawbacks, however, is that the Samsung Wave is rumored to start selling itself at approximately $700 (the iPad sells at $699 for 64GB without 3G), but of course, that is yet unconfirmed.

Check out the video below for Engadget‘s take on the Wave.
