Sara Gilbert has revealed that she is a lesbian.

The former “Roseanne” star announced the news at the Television Critics Association press conference held on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

When asked how tough it was to come out to the public about her sexuality, Gilbert, 35, answered during the panel, “This is a whole new world for me. I’m not expert on this, or I don’t analyze these things. I’m just sort of living my life. I don’t think [being out] will be a problem…I don’t ever really think of things as being out or in…I just think I am who I am, and when topics come up that are appropriate, I’ll talk about them and share when it seems right.”

Gilbert and her partner Allison Adler have been together for 8 years. They have 2 kids: a 5-year-old named Levi, who Adler gave birth to; and 3-year-old Sawyer, who Gilbert gave birth to.
