Wired.com has published an article entitled “Secrets of District 9‘s Grungy Realism“, detailing how the special effects that the movie has have been made. Check out the included video, courtesy of Wired.com, on how the aliens depicted in the movie have been so realistically designed, among others.

“The aliens actually went through a huge design process,” Greg Broadmore, a designer at New Zealand’s WETA Workshop, told Wired.com. “We just wanted to make something more imposing, more threatening, more dangerous.”
