“Sesame Street” and “227″ Star Alaina Reed-Amini dead at 63
 

Broadway star Alaina Reed-Amini, best known for her appearances on the TV series “Sesame Street” and “227,” died after battling with breast cancer for two years.

The 63-year-old actress died at the St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California.

She joined “Sesame Street” in 1976 and stayed on the show until 1988. She played the role of Gordon’s sister, Olivia, who was also a photographer.

In “227,” she was the best friend and landlady of the NBC show’s main character. She was on the show between 1985 and 1990.

As a stage actress, she was part of “Chicago” and “Hair.” She also appeared in movies including “Death Becomes Her” and “Cruel Intentions,” and TV programs like “Ally McBeal,” “The Drew Carey Show,” “ER” and “NYPD Blue.”

Reed-Amini was born on November 10, 1946 in Springfield, Ohio. She is survived by husband Tamim Amini and her two children from a previous marriage.
