Businessman Sidney Harman died Tuesday night in Washington D.C. at age 92.
According to his family, he suffered from complications of leukemia. “He died in Washington, D.C., a city he loved and supported in so many ways, surrounded by his wife and children,” his family said in a statement.
Harman, husband of former congresswoman Jane Harman and founder of Harman Industrial Industries, was also a philanthropist. He’s described by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi as a “dynamic entrepreneur” and “remarkable philanthropist,” whose generosity “unsurpassed.”
He supported many charities including the Shakespeare Theater in Washington.
