Softball standout Jennie Finch has announced that she is retiring after a decade of career in the sport.
The blonde was considered to be the “most dominant pitcher of her time,” setting records and winning competitions in the local and international scenes. Among her achievements are an NCAA championship and an Olympic gold medal.
In an interview with The Associated Press, she said, “This whole career has been way more than I ever even imagined or dreamed. The opportunities that I’d be able to enjoy and appreciate and be a part of, it’s been incredible.”
Finch, 29, said she wants to focus her time on her family and is planning to have more kids. She would play one more week with the United States team and begin her retirement next month, by the end of the National Pro Fastpitch season.
Finch helped the American team win its seventh consecutive world championship title last month. She was also part of the team that brought home the gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics and the silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
