Reflective vests seem not to be anymore exclusive to construction workers, swimmers and bikers alone.
Police in Els Alamus, Northern Spain ordered prostitutes to wear reflective vests to help reduce the risk of traffic accidents, reports the Telegraph. Those who refuse to do so will have to pay the fines of 40 euros.
These prostitutes are reported to be in breach of the 2004 law that states pedestrians must be in the high visibility clothing.
“In the past couple of months the prostitutes have been fined for two reasons: for not wearing the reflective jacket and for creating danger on the public highway,” a spokesman for the regional police force said.
Around 300,000 women work as prostitutes in Spain where prostitution is not illegal.
