A bomb explosion caused by a suicide bomber struck the center of Russia’s capital, Chechnya, on Wednesday, injuring at least 10 people.
The blast was heard at around 6 p.m. Witnesses said the bomber blew himself up outside a major concert hall, where the Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov was watching a concert. The police said he was not hurt.
In a statement released by Kadyrov’s office, it said that the police guarding the concert hall saw a man acting suspiciously outside the theater. When they yelled at him to call his attention, he detonated the bomb.
This is the first suicide bombing in the Chechen capital Grozny in a year.
