The life of Scottish singer Susan Boyle, who rose to fame in 2009 after her performance on a television singing contest went viral online, will be portrayed on stage through a musical.
“I Dreamed a Dream,” named after the title of the song she sang in “Britain’s Got Talent” that made her an overnight celebrity, will premiere on March 23, 2012 at Theater Royal in Newcastle, England, and will continue touring internationally.
“I never thought my life story would end up on the stage but a lot has happened in two years and it is a very exciting prospect,” Boyle said in a statement. ‘”I hope everyone enjoys the show and I promise there will be a few surprises along the way.”
Elaine Smith, known for her role in British comedy series “Rab C Nesbitt,” will star as Boyle.
Boyle’s rendition of I Dreamed a Dream received around 300 million views on YouTube.
