Susan Boyle tops U.K. charts

Susan Boyle’s “I Dreamed A Dream” landed at the top of the British album charts on Sunday, with over 410,000 copies sold since its launch on November 23.

The 48-year-old Scottish singer placed second to Diversity, a dance troupe, on “Britain’s Got Talent.”

The Official Charts Company said Boyle’s debut album has earned the biggest first-week sales for a debut album in U.K. chart history. It has also become the fastest selling record so far this year.

I Dreamed a Dream,”a song from Les Miserables, was performed by Boyle on the variety show. Her superb vocals received a standing ovation from the audience.

Even Simon Cowell was impressed. “In ‘Britain’s Got Talent‘ she opened her mouth and the world fell in love with her, which is why her album has been the fastest selling of any woman making her debut,” he said. “She’s amazing.”

“I accept now that my life will never be the same. And I don’t want it to end,” Boyle told Matt Lauer on NBC’s special “People of the Year.”
