T-Mobile officially announced for this coming month it’s next Google Android-based smartphone, the T-Mobile myTouch 3G, to compete against the likes of iPhone 3G S.
The T-Mobile G1‘s successor now comes with 3.2-inch HVGA full-touchscreen display with built-in accelerometer sensor that intuitively shifts view mode from portrait to landscape and vise-versa depending on phone’s physical orientation. Though powered with the updated Android 1.5 operating system, it lacks the hardware qwerty keyboard that its predecessor had.
Dimension-wise, this phone boasts a slimmer body with 113 x 56 x 14.7 mm, tightly packed with the same Qualcomm 7201A platform with a 528 Mhz CPU and has 192 MB of RAM. This phone parallels HTC Magic specifications which have been launched by Vodafone in Europe last February.
myTouch 3G packs a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with standard point-and-shoot functionality but with the addition of video recording feature courtesy of the Android 1.5 update. And just like its rival iPhone’s newest OS, it can upload video clips directly to YouTube via embedded application.
In addition to standard network support capabilities like quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS as well as bluetooth and Wi-Fi, T-Mobile myTouch 3G is announced to exclusively have the Sherpa application preinstalled that will work in conjunction with the GPS module. Unlike other GPS-related applications, Sherpa software not only could be able to guide the user to locate establishments but also to be able to remember choices from past search results and use them for future location inquiries.
The T-Mobile myTouch 3G comes in white, black and red models and is already available for pre-order for current T-mobile subscribers costing around $200 together with a 2-year agreement.
