T-Mobile loses all of their customer’s personal data

T-Mobile has announced on their website that a recent failure with integrating their Sidekick devices with servers at Danger has most probably resulted in the loss of all personal data stored by their customers in the cloud.

According to a statement by T-Mobile on their official forums, all personal data on Sidekicks have “almost certainly [been] lost as a result of a server failure at Microsoft/Danger.” Additionally, T-Mobile warns current users against letting their Sidekick devices run out of power – once a Sidekick device is rebooted, all personal data stored in it will be lost as it will try to communicate with the Danger servers, which are currently out of commission.

T-Mobile reiterates : “Sidekick customers, during this service disruption, please DO NOT remove your battery, reset your Sidekick, or allow it to lose power.”

T-Mobile is reportedly doing everything they can in cooperation with Microsoft and Danger to recover as much personal data as they can, and promises to release a status update on recovery efforts within Monday.
