Yes, Google actually did change it’s site logo to read “Topeka” for a good while of April Fools’ Day.
Google switched in a logo reading “Topeka” in the usual Google colors yesterday, to play along with the actual city of Topeka, Kansas. Topeka – the city – changed its name to “Google” back in early March, to hopefully convince Google – the company – to pick them for a high-profile project that will give the city ultra-high-speed internet broadband connections.

One of the more popular pranks from yesterday was Starbucks‘, which wasn’t really a prank. They offered two new sizes of drinks yesterday: the Plenta and the Micra, both being laughable extremes. The Plenta serves with drink in a cup that looks like it belongs in a KFC Bucket Meal. The Micra, on the other hand, is a shot of a drink at two ounces.
Some others include:
- A new app for the Nokia N900 which allows you to use your phone as a remote control. What does it control exactly? Well, the Nokia video below shows a guy controlling a real helicopter with it.
- Wondering what your cat may be meowing about? Google Britain says that they’ve got Google Animal Translate ready for you!
- The Sun asked readers to lick a portion of their newspaper pages, claiming that they’ve developed the first ever flavored newspaper paper.
