Washington Redskins coach Jim Zorn fired!

Jim Zorn, the head coach of the Washington Redskins for two seasons running, has been fired Monday morning.

And it may just come as no surprise: Zorn’s track record with the Redskins has been fairly dismal, with an accumulated standing of 12 and 20 (4 and 12 in just the last season alone). The Washington Redskins, not surprisingly, failed to qualify for the NFC playoffs again this season.

Zorn’s termination also follows the resignation of former Redskins EVP Vinny Cerrato just recently. Cerrato was the guy who sniffed out Zorn and put him in the head coach helm, but only when the Redskins acquired consultant Sherm Lewis did the team really experience a major positive overhaul.

Zorn was quarterback for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks prior to his coaching stint, and was actually showing favorable results when he first joined with the Redskins. However, that didn’t last very long, with the team’s performance clearly going in a decline.

Whether or not Jim Zorn actually was the reason for the team’s performance faults, only time will tell.
