The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that there were an additional 7,873 reported cases of Swine Flu worldwide, including 51 deaths brought about by the disease, just over the weekend. This brings the worldwide tally to more than 52,000 people infected, and 231 dead.
The WHO says that this rise is seemingly consistent with the steady rate of spread of the AH1N1 virus.
Swine Flu has been reported in more than 100 countries, although not all countries have been accounted for in the United Nations’ Health Agency’s official records, so the real number of infected people can be much higher. The UN reports that some countries have stopped maintaining accurate records, and that some poor countries have no reliable means of keeping them.
The United States continues to be the country with the most number of Swine Flu cases with 21,449 reports. The number of cases reported during the weekend numbered at 3,594.
