Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 – Canadian Sidney Crosby was the hero of the game as he scored the  game-winning goal to lift his team past the Americans in overtime, 3-2.

Crosby made the shot with 7:40 into OT. “I just shot it. I think it went five-hole but I didn’t really see it. I thought we had some really good shifts in overtime and were really pressing,” Crosby said.

This gold medal is Canada’s 11^th in Olympic hockey. Team Canada got its first Olympic hockey gold in Salt Lake City eight years ago against a Team USA that was made up of NHL players.

Canada’s goaltender Roberto Luongo, whose skill was doubted and questioned when he was chosen to play for Canada, said, “I’m wearing a gold medal around my neck. I don’t care what they think.”

This victory gave Canada its 14^th gold at this year’s Winter Olympics.
