Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 – Today is the final day of this year’s Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, and how have the different teams fared across all the events this year? Below is the medal count for each country.
Granted, there are still two medal events scheduled for today, but the medal count prior to the Olympics’ closing day sees the USA and Canada as having split the titles of having the most medals and the most gold medals respectively. The USA stands strong with a total of 36 medals (9 of which are gold), while Canada enjoys 25 medals (13 are gold). Sandwiched between them in terms of total medal count is Germany with 29 medals total, 10 of which are gold.
With only two medal events lined up for the closing events today, placings in the medal count are not likely to move significantly, but today is still shaping up to be quite the finisher.
Scheduled for today is a final showdown for the gold between Team USA and Team Canada for the Men’s Ice Hockey championship. Team USA managed to beat Team Canada during the round robin matches 5-3, but Team Canada is not down yet. People are getting terribly excited about the outcome of what the media have started calling “Sequel Sunday”.
ERRATUM : An earlier version of this article stated that Team USA won over Team Canada in the Women’s Ice Hockey championship game. We apologize for this mistake. (Thanks to reader Adam Purkiss)
